[Remark: Logunov 1999: 49-51, Logunov, Marusik 2000b: 131 oversimplifiy situation dismissing Icius magister Karsch 1879 as a nomen dubium - as a matter of fact type specimen exists (Proszynski 1973: 116), although immature, but was never carefully studied. There are good drawings in Boesenberg and Strand 1906: 353, figs 133, 353, based on specimen in Frankfurt a. M., and a nomenclatorical habit of recognizing interpretations of previous revidents. Logunov do not document by drawings his statements on identity of several forms described under various names, so we have his words alone. The main question is whether various forms synonymized by Logunov are single biological species, or not. An additional argument for caution is observation of the International Rice Research Institute that this species is important in pest control in rice fields in several countries of East Asia, where insecticides are not being used (personal communication from A. T. Barrion). That is too important information to be lost in purely nomenclatorical name joggligng. Jerzy Proszynski.]
