Plexippus "clemens" in: Wesolowska, van Harten 2007 =
Plexippus tectonicus Prószynski, 2003
(similar forms require revision : Plexippus clemens from Israel
Pl. clemens from Yemen, P. similis from Yemen)

No 0000 Yemen [See color phot] [See drawings P. clemens]
1. Male P. tectonicus in Proszynski 2003a
a "flag" of long setae on pedipalpal femur. round white spot on thorax

3. .... a male P. "clemens" in Wesolowska, van Harten 2007

A "flag" of long setae on pedipalpal femur is not shown, descriptions
by Wesolowska mentions only "long, spatulate hairs" which judging from the fig. 168
are not the same as a "flag" in Proszynskis fig 581. White thoracal spot diamond shaped

Details of pedipalpal hairs (a flag?) on photographs are inconclusive

How we do know that male depicted by Wesolowska is conspecific with female of P. clemens?
The only drawings of female P. clemens available in the literature
3. P. similis Wesolowska, van Harten 1994 <=========> 1.  P. clemens in Prószynski 1984c and 2003a
(occuring together with the above male) <=============> O. P.-C. coll. in Oxford and from Algeria (Bosmans coll.)-

1.Plexippus tectonicus. Are these females conspecific?
"Attus devorans ... Palestine" (labelled so in the O. P.-Cambridge coll. in Oxford), in Proszynski 1984c: 85 and 2003a (left),
on the right P. tectonicus from Israel occuring together with male

Answer by J. Proszynski (March, 2007). The drawings above are the only available now in the World's literature.
Apparently insufficient for final conclusions on synonymy, and even on identity of particular species. We need revision
of ALL species occuring in the area, documented by detailed drawings, made in a comparable way, and by photographs.

4. Possibly conspecific: Plexippus yinae Peng X. J., Li S. Q. 2003b.from Yunnan
